Jennie, the owner of JK Equestrian situated in Northamptonshire, underwent a life-altering experience on December 25th, 2018, when she was diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome. Following major emergency spinal surgery, she faced the daunting reality of permanent damage and a new disability. The collapse of her L5/S1 and the resulting nerve canal compression left her with permanent numbness in her right leg and foot, as well as loss of bladder and bowel function.
In 2021, Jennie faced another setback with emergency spinal surgery, during which her spinal fluid sac was inadvertently nicked, leading to complications. Despite the challenges, including a subsequent battle with sepsis after having a stoma bag fitted in January 2023, Jennie persevered with determination and the support of her team.
Despite initial doubts about her future in the equestrian world, Jennie refused to let adversity define her. With unwavering determination and a strong support system, she not only regained her confidence but also resumed competing. Her return to the arena included participation in prestigious events such as the Longines Global Championship Tour and Bolesworth International.
Jennie’s journey is a testament to her resilience, compassion, and dedication. At the heart of her success lies a dedication to kindness, hard work, and unwavering support for others. With over 100 5-star reviews, Jennie is not only a skilled competitor but also a beloved coach, certified in UKCC Level 2 British Showjumping, first aid, and safeguarding.
