Newcomers to polo to Watch, Learn, and Play Polo. Non-riders and riders alike.

Overview

This “Introduction to Polo” covers the following topics:

Game Overview:

  • Polo Field, Players & Officials.
  • Player Equipment.
  • What to expect.

Polo Riding:

  • Balance, Walking, Trotting and Cantering.
  • Stopping and Turning.
  • Half-seat / Polo position to hit the ball.

Polo Swing:

  • The Polo Swings.
  • Timing ball location.
  • Power & Accuracy.

Game Theory:

  • Basic Rules.
  • Team Tactics.
  • Penalties & Set Plays.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Have a greater understanding of the game to watch polo and/or learn to play.
  • Understand the basics of polo including the general game theory, polo riding and hitting the ball.
