Equi-Scotia set up in 2020 to provide equine facilitated learning and therapy services in Central Scotland. Lockdown prompted a shift into online training, and within 6 months Equi-Scotia had developed a new Professional Diploma in Equine Facilitated Learning & Development which is quality assured by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
Equi-Scotia is a Federation member of HETI and approved on the HEIR UK register as well as an organisation member of ACCPH. Equi-Scotia has a growing network of practitioners providing services supporting mental health & wellbeing across the UK – from the Isle of Lewis to the South of England.
Equi-Scotia is a community interest company run by Directors Julie-Anne Griffith and Liz McGarvey who are experienced coaches. They work closely with Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy practitioner Mike Delaney, and a team of specialists providing input on horse behaviour and welfare, emotional intelligence, co-production & partnership working.
Thank you, Mike and Julie Anne. The course opened my eyes to what is possible within myself and horses. They are amazing teachers and it would be great to be able to open this up to many more people. It encouraged me to question long held beliefs and to notice and acknowledge horse behaviour, without judgement of them or myself.
The content covered is robust. There is a nice balance between content covered and practical. I enjoyed all the learning content. The practical opportunities were excellent. The blend of coaching and therapeutic techniques particularly appealed to me.
